Board Meeting Update
Meeting of the Board held on Thursday January 24, 2019 at the Hon. L. Headley Durham Building, Grand Turk
At this meeting the Board of Trustees
Received the following updates:
- NIB Audits
The 2017/18 external audit which commenced on December 10, 2018 was progressing well.
- Orientation for New Board Member
Executive Management will be conducting an orientation program for newly appointed Board Member and Chair to the Audit Committee, Miss Darcel Smith.
- Repairs to the Hon. Headley Durham Building
Tenders for the repairs to the Hon. Headley Durham Building are to be republished for a third time. The new deadline for submissions is January 25, 2019.
- Staff Recruitment
Interviews were conducted for the positions of Database Administrator/Programmer and HR & Administrative Manager within the NIB. It was agreed to re-advertised both positions locally.
- Strategic Plan Implementation
Management continues to work on elements of the strategic plan; once the full staff complement is in place the plan will be fully implemented.
- Risk and Compliance
Management continues to work on the Risk Catalog and expects to present it at the Board’s February meeting.
- Relocation to Arch Plaza
Relocation of some managers at the Hon. Hilly Ewing Building to the Arch Plaza has been rescheduled for February 1, 2019.

- Attendance at CIESS Workshop
Attendance of two staff members to the CIESS Workshop on Building Workforce Capacity to promote Healthy Aging and Limit Non-Communicable Disease at the British Virgin Islands Social Security Board February 25 – March 1, 2019.
